Building audiences: challenges and opportunities
Marcela Diez Martinez
Thursday May 23, 2024, 18:30 - 19:20
Recently awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government, Martínez has dedicated her life to the development and promotion of culture. In her quest to understand and improve the public, she is now the Cultural Community Coordinator at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), the largest public university in Mexico with campuses throughout the country and abroad. This newly created program focuses on understanding and enhancing audience engagement with live concerts, theatre, dance and other performances.
Martinez will expand on the topic of the creation and development of new event audiences. She will examine the serious challenge that event organizers face in attracting large and enthusiastic audiences. By sharing findings gleaned from research conducted at UNAM, Martinez will stimulate discussion around the aging or loss of viewers and opportunities to transform our audiences.
